Hi, I'm Kara.
I am a certified holistic nutrition consultant and full spectrum doula who lives in Modesto, CA.
I am devoted to living a life that is connected to the Earth through nutrition, gardening, birthwork and herbalism.

I grew up in the beautiful community of Yellow Springs, Ohio. I was initiated into the world of natural medicine and women's wellness at a young age by my best friend's mother, Amy. As a young woman, I knew I wanted to work in the wellness world which originally manifested as studying Holistic Health & Organic Farming and playing with plants in the garden and making plant medicines. Eventually, my path led to birthwork & holistic nutrition. I began working as a doula in San Francisco in 2019.

For four years I supported and educated families as they welcomed home new babies as a birth and postpartum doula, and in that time, it became very clear how essential food and nutrition was for these new mothers! With each meal I prepared for the families I served, the louder the calling to do nutrition work became.
​
In May 2023, I received the title of certified Holistic Nutrition Consultant after studying with Bauman College. My focus is women's nutrition, particularly during the childbearing year and postpartum-- though I offer support to all people on their respective nourishment journey.
I have spent the better part of the last 7 years studying folk herbalism and using this knowledge to support myself, my partner and my immediate community. I often provide my clients with herbal remedies that are safe to use during pregnancy and postpartum.

In my free time I can be found stewarding new life into the world through gardening, tending to Christine's Garden (an organic, local farm) as a farm hand, cooking and baking delicious nourishing meals, rock climbing & soaking up the golden sun with my beloved.
